With every season, comes a new set of trends. Often times there are new defining details that take over the world of fashion, making each season differentiate itself from the previous one; showing the unique designs that each designer has to offer while maintaining a general theme running throughout the season. Fall 2017 has shown us a revival of previous decades, with elements of the 70s and 90s running throughout the collections across the runways of Fashion Week 2017.
Some notable details include plaid, florals for fall and winter instead of the traditional spring prints, denim on everything (including denim on denim), metallic and red color schemes, and trench coat shilouetters. These details dominated the runways and made their presence noted amongst design houses throughout the world.
The trends of the 70s and 90s make a revival have been a massive success amongst the college crowds and these trends can be witnessed across campuses throughout the nation. "Mom jeans", bomber jackets, and bright color schemes have demonstrated a return of the 90s era; showing popularity among the "hipster" crowds. Flare jeans, psychadelic patterns and statement jackets are coming back from the 70s, appearing in stores from Marc Jacobs to Target, proving to be popular no matter what your socio-economic status may be.
While things may be trendy for one second, it is just as important to develop your own sense of style instead of relying heavily upon the work of designers to fill your fashion void. Individuality propels the fashion world forward and keeps things interesting despite the growing importance of the runway.
